"What, therefore, is our task today? Should I answer "Faith, hope and love?" That sounds beautiful. But I would say - courage. No, even that is not challenging enough to be the whole truth. Our task today is recklessness. For what we Christians lack is not psychology or literature... we lack a holy rage - the recklessness which comes from the knowlege of God and humanity. The ability to rage when justice lies prostrate on the streets, and when the lie rages across the face of the earth... a holy anger about the things that are worng in the world. To rage against the ravaging of God's earth and and the desruction of God's people. To rage when little children must die of hunger, while the tables of the rich are sagging with food. To rage at the senseless killing of so many, and the madness of militaries. To rage against the lie that calls the threat of death and the strategy of destrustion peace. To rage against COMPLACENCY. To restlessly seek that recklessness that will challenge and seek to change human history until it conforms to the norms of the kingdom of God."-Father Kaj Munk, 1944

I know you are all wondering about the feeding of the Karamajongs, it couldn't have been more wonderful. That is if you can still use the word wonderful about a situation where children are so hungry for food that they come back three times for heaping plates of posho and beans and so hungry for love that they just about suffocate you and pull off all your skin.
I am so thankful for my sweet children who get right down in the dirt and love on these children with me, help me cook and serve food, and lead worship songs before Bible study. We as a family are thankful for the opportunity and resources to feed these children. During school holiday we will be feeding the children breakfast and lunch, having Bible study, playing games, clipping fingernails, cutting hair, washing clothes, and planting food on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a good friend of mine will go to the school and play soccer with the kids. Hopefully this will keep them out of the streets during the holidays until we can get them enrolled in school full time next semester, where we will continue to feed the breakfast and lunch daily.
Other than that, life is pretty normal, or as normal as life can be with 13 children and over 300 who come over on a regular basis. I'm thrilled that the kids are on break so that I can spend more time just PLAYING with them, plus we love going to do ministry as a family, to the hospital, to the Karamajong district, or here at home. The Lord is unimaginably good, so much so that I cannot often get my mind around it. Sometimes I feel crazy. Sometimes I feel reckless. Sometimes people tell me that I am crazy and reckless. Please pray that our family would continue to live and love recklessly, freely, extravagantly. Knowing God, knowing humanity, and recklessly trying to to bridge the gap in the small way that we can until this world can conform to the norms of the Kingdom of God. On EARTH as it is in Heaven.

I just know God is beaming as He looks at your reckless heart. Thank you for the reminder, encouragement and EXAMPLE of how living for Him recklessly does indeed bring His kingdom to earth and into the lives of others. I'm not sure you fully understand the impact your beautiful heart and obedience is having on folks here in the States. My friend just sponsored one of your kids and bought a bunch of chickens with the tax return she got. I love it, Katie. God is using you in our hearts here as well as in the lives of those precious little ones you touch every day. Our prayers are for you!! Much love, Amy in Cincinnati
P.S. It's seriously like Christmas when I see a new post from you. :)
Do you have mission trips? I feel it. I want to come help you. please email me if you have time at katieangel24@hotmail.com

Katie,
Thank you for sharing what God is doing there in Uganda. It's so encouraging to know that God is at work all over the world. What an awesome privilege we have to be a part of God's "family business." - Praying for you and your sweet family every day.

Katie, you are on the ground there, and see people in need on a daily basis. Can you share your thoughts on adopting from Uganda verses providing humanitarian aid for children in need there.
Katie,
You are always a blessing. Thank you:)
The kids are so beautiful...and so are you....Praise God for His bountiful blessings that He he has sent these kids! And I pray tonight for your continued strength to be His hands and feet...
Praying for continued reckless love in your family! (And praying for it in my own, as well!)
Blessings,
Sarah
I just want to say thank you for being who you are, seeing the world as you see it and for teaching me so very much. Amy
You bless me in so many ways with your amazing love for all of God's children.
Keep on keeping on...
I don't have anything profound to say....just keep on keeping on. You are inspiring so many to reckless faith!
Praise Jesus!
I am praying for your reckless love and for the reckless love in a sea of believers who need to know that love is not just a word we carelessly say in closing to one another, but rather love is an action...it looks like feeding 300 touching the untouchable, getting your skin pulled off by starving children, it looks like you.
How I long to be reckless, I am praying for you my sweet sister in Christ.
Fantastic post. May God bless you beyond all that you could ask or imagine. Thank-you, thank-you, for sharing.
You are ONE amazing woman all through the grace and mercy of Christ!!
Thank you for giving your life away for Him. You are so brave.
I have added your blog link on my blog. There are many who are being inspired by YOU!!
My heart is about to leap right out of my body. I am praying for recklessness!
You're such an inspiration - keep it up. And I'll keep praying for you and your family as you continue to minister and feed the multitudes!
i have to tell you that i am praying for you harder than ever, my sister who i have not yet met, but i feel so close to in heart. i have been reading for over four months now, and i could not be more inspired by what God is doing through you in uganda.
A genuine Christian should be a walking mystery because he is surely a walking miracle. Through the leading and the power of the Holy Spirit, the Christian is involved in a daily life and habit that cannot be explained.

i pray that He would continue to feed you with reckless love, and that more of us would allow him to shower upon us that same reckless love.

Katie, I have been reading your blog and praying for you for sometime but have not left a message before. Thank you for sharing your heart and sharing the incredible things that God is doing. I had to tell you that a church in my community is raising funds to support the Karamojong people in Mbloe and Namatala. I was amazed to read your last post and to read about what this church is doing on the same day. The link at the top is where you can read more about what they are doing. I just thought that perhaps you might want to know about them if they are working with the same group of people.
Blessings!!!
Amen...I wish I could be there helping feed bellies with you!! Praying for you all...miss ya'll terribly!
Much Love,
Anna
God is SO good. I'm thankful for the journey He has you on and for all of the lives He is blessing through you. Both in Uganda and around the world.
Loved seeing more pictures.
Sweet blessings & JOY,
Amy in OR
Dear Katie...go to my blog to see my comments on this journal entry you made.
So many more people are praying for you and your kids b/c of adding you to my blog site...one friends daughter (age 9) is totally amazed that God is using your faith to make it better for kids in Uganda. You are making a lasting impression on her life. Thank you! JOY FOR YOUR DAY!
I love this post...shake things up girl!! Everyone can do something to make an impact on what is going on in this world. We sisters at home need to do what we can to empower you on the front lines to do what you do. We need to be the foundation from which you draw your strength and resources. I have an idea to help and am going to chat with Gwen about it. I LOVE Gwen, she is an amazing woman. I am loving you too. You are sweeping me right up. I love how you have chosen to live your life in God's will loving his children.
How do you even find time to post!!??
Beyond anything I could ever wrap my head around... your purpose for the Lord is soooo huge here on earth!!!! I wish I could jump through the computer and help you!! Maybe someday.... ;-) Prayers and blessings.
And May our God continue to bless you and those sweet, sweet children!!! You all are in my prayers> I look so foward to reading about you all!
God bless you Katie - I'm lifting you and your family up constantly before the Lord!!!
Katie, I can't tell you how contagious your faith is. You are such an inspiration to me as a sister in the Lord, even though we have never met. Please know that you, your precious treasures and ministry are often in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for the photos, the face of Jesus, walking on the earth.

What a beautiful post. Those children are so gorgeous and wonderfully created by God. As always you blessed my heart with your post.
I showed my children your latest post and my older daughter wanted to go and bring that little girl home...the one with the yellow dress....in a picture by herself. She just melted our hearts.
..."Father God we pray this day for Amazima Ministries and the work Katie is doing. We thank you for everything that she does to make a difference for Your Kingdom. Give her health, strength, mercy and grace every day as she works so tirelessly serving others. We praise you for everything that You are doing in Uganda. Watch over Katie and her children. We pray these things in the name of your son...Amen"
Bless you katie! Bless you for what you are doing for God's precious children there in Uganda. Continue to love recklessly.... for we truly are called to LOVE.
In Christ,
gloria
God is so good! A few months ago you came to our church and spoke (Strong Tower Bible Church) and I was moved by your faith and compassion and more than that your courage to act on your faith and call that God has obviously given you. I am reading a book called Nice Girls Dont Change The World....and without giving to much away in the end she challenges us, as women of faith, to actually become Dangerous Women! You, Katie are a dangerous woman (and that IS A GOOD THING TO BE!). I will be praying for you and all of your children. Please keep the messeges coming! Sheryl
