On the traintracks near our house, a train hit a cow.
The village cheif proceeded to cut off the cow's head with a panga and the villagers jumped in to split the cow into pieces.
We got a nice hunk of the leg and I made beef stew for dinner.
Life is good.
On a different note, I would like to thank you for your prayers. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The PEACE of Christ that transcends understanding has enveloped our house the last few weeks as tricky legal decisions regarding the custody of my girls have been made. We are all safe and sound and just trying our best to love each other well. Our days are filled feeding the Karamajongs, leading Bible studies for the Amazima children, helping our sweet neighbor Angello clean his house, finger painting, working in our vegetable garden and laughing until we ache. There is joy in this place. Not joy because we are always happy, we have our fair share of grouchy-ness and quarreling for sure, but the unchanging, unending joy that comes from knowing that our Savior is seated on His throne and that when raising His disciples and serving His children, even the mundane is eternal.
We would like to pray for you, our sweet friends because without your heartfelt prayers, I doubt the days would be so beautiful. I do not want this blog to be a group of people following "Katie's story" but rather a group of people together in God's story, lifting eachother up to the Father. My little family has been so blessed by you. Please post any prayer requests you have in comment form and though we may not be able to respond, know that we will be praying for each of you by name.

I am a Pediatric Nurse recently traveled to Ghana to help a little boy whose feet had been badly burned. God called, I went. It was beautiful, and I found more of myself there than I ever knew existed. While I was there, I met our daughter. Please pray for us as we navigate the world of international adoption. I miss her little voice as I sit here half a world away, totally helpless, with just the faith that God will carry her home.
Please pray for the Chapman family, that they will be reunited with Maria soon, and may peace and happiness fill their hearts when they think of their little girl. Please pray for them especially on May 21.
Blessings Katie,
My wife and I have been following your blog since January, and your words have challenged us, and we have been moved. So "no" it is not about just your story, but the story of the Almighty Creator and how he uses each of us to do His work. Thank you for sharing your journey with us, as we walk in ours. Our prayer and the prayer we need is one and the same, that He will be glorified by our actions, and our souls will stir and cause us to take action to live as Christ everyday, and seek to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to someone daily.
you know all my prayer requests sister ... hope you enjoy the craziness w/ all the kids on break ... i can't wait to see you and i can't wait to espcially see you one day in UGANDA ... luffa you always ...
Hi Katie!
God bless you today!
There sure is nothing wrong with telling your story.
He is yours, you are His...what's His is yours, what's yours is His.
Blessings on your girls' custody situation.
SBess
Katie, please pray for Denny, as I know you do. He'll need them even more as he faces this new round of treatments.
I'm so very thankful that all turned out so well for you & your family.
Love the pictures you've been sending!
Love you, always!
Hey Katie,
I love reading about what God is doing with you and the children there and praying for you all each week. It never ceases to amaze me in what HE is doing through you.
Please pray for my family and I as we journey to China next week (May 21st) to help care for the needs of about 180 orphans there. We still need some provision for us to make the journey and we ask that God's blessings pour out on us abundantly so we can pour ourselves out and be able to greatly provide for the needs of these children and there Foster families.
Thanks so much for your prayers!
Be blessed!
Scott
Oh I love what you said about joy...amen!
It is a privilege to be able to pray for your sweet little (okay, big!) family, Katie! We pray for yall everyday!
"You are the salt of the earth..."
I want to know God, and serve him they way you do. You are so real, so honest and willing to give all glory to God. I'm stuck, I'm selfish, I'm looking for appreciation and admiration. I'm tired of living with this worldly attitude, but I keep clinging to it. Your stories inspire me, yet I need God's spirit to work in me, so that I'm more than inspired. I want that drive, that courage, that hunger to seek, ask and know God and desire his will more than mine. That is my prayer request. I want to change my attitude. It is difficult for me to ask you to pray this for me, a complete stranger. But I thank you for extending this gracious gift of prayer & faith to me; I'm so honored to take your prayer offer. Thank you.
EM
How wonderful of you to ask for OUR prayer needs. I would feel selfish asking, but it's not entirely for myself, so I will.
Please pray for our sweet new daughter in Ethiopia. We are in the process of adopting her but that process can be time consuming. She is 5 years old and HIV+ and NEEDS to come to the states for proper care ASAP. It blesses my heart that you will lift her up in your prayers. You can read more about her and our journey on my blog if you're interested. God bless you for all you do and who you are!!!
The Lord has glorified Himself so much through your obedience and your precious children. My name is Keri Mason. My husband, Gene, and I adopted our first daughter from China in 2007. She was born with cleft lip and will face many surgeries and procedures in the years ahead. She is 3 now and such a joy...please pray for her, and for us as we embark on our next adoption journey to...guess where...Uganda! Maybe we can visit you!!!
Pray that I can come visit your wonderfully sweet and special family someday!
thank you, Katie, for opening the front door and letting us peer in on your active obedience and the joy of the Lord you find your strength. I love you and the children--my brothers and sisters--so much!
wishing you grace and peace from Southern Indiana,
Lauren
I laughed so hard at the first paragraph- I love trying to imagine you there getting your fair share of cow! :)
Would you please pray for Abe? Continue to give Him the glory for the work that He has already done, the work that we SEE in the progress that he is making and pray that new connectors would continue to form in his brain so the progress will continue. May he be like your sweet Grace one day and astound all the medical community by walking!
This is truly God-ordained.... We are beginning the process of international adoption of a special needs child...
This morning my mom told me that she was against this whole thing... the adotion, the international part, and especially the special needs part....
I have spent the day (at work) on the verge of tears... how am I to become the mother of my 3rd child without the support of my mother during the process.... and to top that off, I am not totally sure of my mother's salvation... I am hoping God is using this resistance in her to open her up to Him and to His love so that she will be open to this adoption and this precious child.
Katie, I love reading your story... it encourages me on my good and bad days... thank you for letting me be a part of your life and you being a part of mine... sisters in prayer....
Please pray that God would direct my every step as I feel Him near and know He is moving me, pray the doors open and that I run whole heartedly to whatever He is calling me to do, never ever looking behind!
Katie girl...you are so sweet! :) My daughter and I have been living "on the edge" financially for longer than I care to think about. I have applied for job after job, to no avail. I AM working part-time, but 90% of our income goes to pay the rent, and the balance goes for utilities, taxes, insurance...and sometimes food. I am THANKFUL for the town's foodbank! And I am amazed at how God gets us through EVERY SINGLE MONTH. But it is wearying, and overwhelming at times. I am willing to stay here on the edge, if it is HIS WILL. Absolutely. But would you pray that His will be DONE in our lives? Thanks, Katie! Hugs for all your girls! Thanks for the update! I check in every day! Always such a blessing to see a new one!!!!
Hugs...Nancy in CT
Katie,
I found your blog a couple of months ago and have read every posting. You inspire me to work harder at being the hands and feet of Jesus. We have moved forward to adopt a 6 year old special needs boy from China. We have named him Noah and though all of our paperwork is finished we are told we will probably not travel until early next year. He turns 7 on November 5th and we want desperately to be there or have him home for his birthday. Please pray that we will travel this year to make him part of our family. On another note, I follow Linn's blog "A place called simplicity" and love reading about her african angels. I know I will travel to Africa one day to bring home a child. The work you are doing is incredible. I tell people about your ministry as often as I can. I am praying for you and your family.
Thank you,
Julie
Katie,
I've very recently found your blog, but I obsessively read all your posts until I had read the entire archives and all! It was such a blessing to read and encouraged me so much.
I am actually planning on going to Amani this September! God has called me and lead me very specifically there and I can't wait to see how He will use me.
I'm praying for you all and your little family!
Blessings,
Grace
Please pray that God would show me my place in this world, and that I would pursue his will...
Hi Katie,
Amen to the first comment ... when we read your blog we read about the WONDERS of an AMAZING GOD.
I am writing from Ghana today, and asking for prayer that God may work wonders in the Ghanaian passport office. I am with a friend, trying to navigate what has become a nightmare of an adoption.
Please pray for sweet Comfort (age 8). She is in need of heart surgery as soon as we can get her home to America. We have the surgery all lined up, but are waiting for the passports for she and her new brother.
While I am here helping a friend with a difficult situation, I am so enjoying being back in Africa. I LOVE this country ... I LOVE the people here ... I LOVE Africa and would love to visit you in Uganda some day.
Blessings,
mama of 13
Katie, I pray for you and your girls and your work, every day. You make us all better.....just by watching and being inspired by you. I would ask for your sweet prayers, for our daughter Marta (12) to come home from Ethiopia, but also for all the families and children who are stuck in the same trap as my sweet girl of the new TB protocols. This policy has to change and it will take a lot of prayer to move the mountains of politics behind this. Thank you, from a sad and frustrated momma's heart. Bless you!
Katie, even though we have never met...its been such a blessing to follow your blog. Bloggy friendships are a special thing, too:) We are celebrating Gwen's referral!!! We continue to pray for you & your children!!
You can pray specifically that somehow, some way I can raise the $3000 to join the mission group heading your way & to my beloved Ethiopia. We adopted our daughter from Addis last July. God is so faithful & if its not this trip, next time would be wonderful too!
Thank you for praying.
Blessings,
Kari
Hey Katie! I do not feel like your blog is yours - you use it to show a life given for our Savior and His work, so keep it up!
My prayer request it that for my hubby that is headed your way. He is on a mission team to Uganda in a couple of weeks. God has been moving a shakin' our world and my request is for God to clearly reviel His plan for us (sometimes I feel like one of His slower children, hehe). And of course for safety, for them to all be sensitive to what God wants from them with each soul they encounter and joy in doing His work for those on the trip and at home.
Thanks for praying - I know there is power when we lift these things up to our God!!
Oh Katie, I would love to have your family join me in prayer!!!! I really need some right now! I have always known that I want to adopt special needs kids and my husband is on board with it but he wants to wait until our kids that we have now are older (they're 3 and 5) and he won't even talk about adoption right now. Well, over the past few months God has REALLY been working on my heart and telling me very clearly that he wants us to adopt now, not wait until our timing is right. It's all about HIS timing and I really think he's pretty clearly told me that the time is now. So, I would ask you to pray for my husband's heart to be softened. I don't know if it's just fear or financial reasons that hold him back but I am hoping that we can have a real conversation about it and that he will start to understand how real this is to me and be open to moving forward now. I pray for your family regularly and it does my heart wonders to know that you will now be joining me in prayer as well! Thank you SO MUCH for opening this up!
Thank you for offering to pray for us too! :) We are in process of adopting from Ghana & would so appreciate prayer for that.
Katie,
I check in on you and your family and prayers are with you. God is using you in big, big ways.
Please pray for my family as we are in the process of adopting again from Ethiopia. Our little girl was born in Guatemala and now we are waiting for a referral from Ethiopia. Please pray the finances will be there.
God bless you dear sister in Christ,
Carrie

Hey Katie!
Thanks so much for allowing us to be a part of your journey. We are praying for you and your kiddos.
Please pray for us and our adoption. We did not pass court the first time through (on Tuesday.) We hope to get the approval by the end of the week so we can travel to Ethiopia to get Ansley and Karis by the end of the month!
Hope all is well for you!
Keep pressing on ...
Jason
Katie,
Your life, your ministry, your passion has touched my life in such a profound way. My husband I are youth pastors and I have shared with our group about your life, and love for Christ.
Please pray for my family. My husband and I would like to add more children to our family (we currently have two adopted kiddos) and we are waiting for God to speak and give us direction (international adoption or state adoption). We are also foster parents. We desire to do God's will, and need wisdom.
In Christ,
Carissa
Your blog is a blessing to me!
Our family needs prayer.
For Joe and Melissa...for our marriage, and for our future in trying to listen to God and to be obedient to where He might send us. We feel something is stirring.
For our sons, Shawn 2 1/2 (has Down syndrome) and Asher 4 1/2, that their hearts will long for Jesus.
My oldest Son, Spencer (20) that he will make wise choices for his next big decisions.
Our finances.... times are very very very difficult.
Thank you Katie. My husband and I both follow your blog and pray for you. My husband has been praying for each of your daughters by name, daily.
Katie,
A friend of mine showed me your blog several months ago and I am so inspired every time I read it. I pray that you continue to stay in the center of God's will.
I traveled to Ethiopia last year and I have been working since then to raise money to build fresh water wells for rural villages in Ethiopia. In a few days I will be returning to Ethiopia for two weeks. We will continue to work on our water well projects, but in addition, I feel God calling me to help girls in Ethiopia that are living on the streets and digging through garbage for survival. So my prayer request is that God will lead my every step and direct me to the exact people and places that I need to go to fulfill His will.
Katie, I hope you know that you are not only touching lives in Uganda, but you are also touching lives a world away.
God Bless you!
Meredith
Hello Katie,
I have just recently started reading your posts and have been encouraged to keep on the journey of the Lord.
I am a college student and my studies are in missions. I feel the Lord has called me to Africa (not sure what country yet) to share his word and care for His people there. Pray that I will keep on that journey and stay faithful to the Lord. Thank you so much.
Katie and kids,
Pray that my love for Africa never fades. After living in West Africa for 2 years, I have returned to the States for the past 10 months. I hope to God that the passion I have required for an entire continent of people never goes away.
You and the precious children you work and live with are in my prayers often.
Hooray for trains and cows! Thanks for sharing God's story and your prayer requests, Katie. I'm always happy to see a new post, a new chapter in the novel. God is truly amazing.
Thank you for prayers for our family as we follow our Father's voice regarding business decisions and our Kingdom business here. Thanks, Katie :) xo

continually praying for your family. i leave for haiti next week with my mom, so prayers for that and all the other mothers, fathers and children out there :)
i hope our paths cross again sooner than later. xoxo
You have a lot of praying to do! :) Please pray for our family and our ministry, that we may hear God's call and follow, without fear. http://www.flowersinthedesertblog.blogspot.com/
What a great post and wonderful reminder to thoroughly be in each and every moment and rejoice in the gift that it is.
So, beautiful ladies in Uganda, our family is in the process of bringing home our 7 year old son from Ethiopia. There are always all kinds of bumps and unexpected delays and challenges, and we know that. BUT, our sweet boy "M" lost both of his parents and has been waiting for his new family for over a year now. Please pray for his precious heart and that he will be safe and well cared for while he waits. I know you understand! Please also pray that God give us clarity and direction as we seek to serve Him somehow in/through an orphanage. Not sure of the details, but deeply desire to love on the orphans in Africa, wherever that may be!
Thanks for praying!!!
Amy, Geoff, Chelsea, Liam, & Sara Ivey in OR
Your post about the cow made me laugh...only in Africa. But I'm sure everyone enjoyed their stew:-)
Thank you for keeping us updated on things going on in your life and the lives of your children. We serve an awesome God.
so many warriors for christ asking for prayer and seeking the king. What peace and joy it brings to read about people all over the world in Love with Our God and sharing it with others.
I am printing this page out so i can join all of you in prayer and pray for you by name. It humbles me to see such need and dependence on a Great God. Thank you for encouraging my personal spiritual walk.
Pleas pray for my husband and i as we are trying to move to KY and for ministry opportunities there.
Love from VA,

Dearest Katie and your sweet family. Thank you for offering to pray... It is DELIGHTFUL to pray for you all. I will continue to pray for your legal situation. Thank you for praying for me and my family. I'm afraid to ask for this, because who knows what God will do, but your blog has threatened my COMPLACENCY and COMFORT and I want to follow God with my life and resources instead (I think :).
- Karen and the Friesen family
Katie, I love your heart sweet girl! I love how the love of Jesus radiates through you. You are a constant witness for Him!!
You are right... it's Gods story...and through your faithful active obedience... He IS being glorified!!
Please add our Ugandan beauties to your list of adoption prayers!!
Praying for you and yours with much love!!
oh, and... the cow... seriously?!!
Thank you Katie.
Please pray that I will have an undying desire for Christ and to see Him glorified in my heart and family. We are so easily entangled by the "good life" in California.
Please pray for my foster son Michael and for his birthmom. His courtdate is on June 3rd and that day means so much for his future. God knows.
Again, thank you, thanks be to JESUS for your outrageous and beautiful life.
Nikki
I love to see how God is leading your always growing family.
Please pray for my husband and me. We are starting a month of intensive prayer. We are asking God to direct us in the way he would like for us to grow our family. We have been trying for almost 2 years to conceive. Not a long time for some, but I will be 38 soon and don't have loads of time. :) We are very much wanting to pursue adoption, but want God to lead us to the route He chooses for us.
Thank you so much!
pray for us as we travel to adopt our 3 boys. we leave in less than two weeks.
thanks.
We started following your blog several months ago. I cannot begin to tell you how deeply moved we are by your words and photos. Thank you for sharing your life with the rest of us. My 5 year old, Marissa, prays nightly without fail for "Katie and all her kids in Africa". Her prayers are sometimes short and sometimes long, but she never forgets your sweet family. Thank you for praying for the followers of your blog. If I were to ask for a specific prayer, it would be for my family. My oldest is graduating high school on Monday and we are in the midst of a lot of big changes in our home. As parents, we need Godly wisdom in the "everyday" decisions we are faced with. It's tough. But God is good...all the time! Thank you SO much!

Katie, I truly love you. really. whenever I see what Christ is doing, I fall more deeply in love with Him in you. Amazing...
Please pray for our Haitian adoption. We are adopting a 2 1/2 year old son from Haiti. Actually, the Haitian side is complete and we just need to bring him home. sounds simple, but nothing is simple in Haiti. We've waited 2 years now, he's been sick-several times in the hospital, almost died, has had a blood transfusion and still continues to be anemic. We still have no diagnosis. Pray we hear Good News this month about his homecoming. We just want to bring our son home. His name is Calerbe Asher...May God Bless you and your family...
your words and transparent life that you share on this blog have continued to be an inspiration to me.
I was studying to be a nurse when in January my uterus prolapsed and I had to withdrawal from classes. So my education has had to be put on hold for months as I sought to find a surgeon and then went through recovery. God provided in awesome ways and I will some day be able to have children... I am so thankful for that. I am 28 years old and have always felt that children were a part of Gods plan for my life.
So I have been without a job since August when I was let go and now have medical bills showing up and am still trying to find a job. Please pray that God opens a door soon. I am trusting Him to provider. That is who He is. My provider.
Thank you for praying for me. May God continue to fill you to overflowing so that your children and the rest of your blog readers may be blessed by that AMAZING love that shines through you from our Father. Much love and continued prayers to you and your dear ones!
Katie,
I am so glad you posted and update! You and your children have been in my daily prayers. So glad to hear you are all safe and yes, full of the JOY of the Lord!
I would love for you to pray for my husband -- he sure needs the Lord in his life. Please pray for his salvation.
God bless you katie!

Hi Katie & Family, *waves at monitor* :)
I've been following your blog for almost a year now, and I check daily to see if there are any updates--I lift you, your family and friends in Africa and your family and friends back here in the states up in prayer daily...prayer changes things, moves mountations and brings miracles!
Thanks for asking us for our prayers...if you could pray for me to always keep the fire of Christ alive in my life and as I finish up my last year in college this fall (in the teaching field) to not get burned out, or let my Christian walk become common-place. That is what I fear most and I don't want to ever lose my zeal for God and what He has for my life.
Thanks so much,
Love all of you,
A friend from CT,
Diane
Katie, We join with you, your Grandma Joyce, Aunt Vicky, and the rest of your family in prayer for your Uncle Denny as he continues in this next round of treatments. God is faithful!
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord. For he will be like a tree planted by the water that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit". Jeremiah 17:5-8 Steve, Cheryl, Sarah and Grace
Through tears I am asking you to pray for me. I am on the other side of adoption and it has been so difficult. I have not been the mother I hoped to be and I need Gods intervention desperately. I am reaching for His hem here.
You encourage me,
Rebecca
Hi Katie,
May I ask that you pray for my friend? His name is Chris Champion. He is in the hospital right now and not doing well. His father died just a few months ago of brain cancer, and he also has cancer which has recently spread to several areas of his body. Please pray for God's healing, for peace and comfort for his mother who has cared for both her son and husband over the last few years, and for his siblings. This has been a tough road for all of them to walk, but through it all, they serve, honor, and trust God. You can read his story here... www.kooseefoo.com, or his mom's blog here... http://www.championclan.blogspot.com/
Thank you so much! <3
You are amazing. Ah.May.Zing!
My sister in law read your blog last night for so long she woke up seeing spots. Any chance you would consider changing to a white background with dark font for us close-to-forty readers? ...you know, in your spare time when you're not saving children and whipping up leg of beef stews!
You will be in my prayers tonight. You are just amazing.
In Christ,
Erin
Please pray for my 4 year old nephew, Hank, as he is battling an unknown disease.
Please pray for us as we go through a long adoption process of our son in Haiti.
We will continue to pray for you and your family.
Katie: You all have your plate full with prayer requests from around the world. First let me say thank you for continuing to share openly and honestly with us and challenging each of us to listen to what God would call us to. I am in the middle of praying, listening and waiting on how He desires to use me. I want to be patient and faithful to live each day, right where He has me and not to be anxious about what might or might not come in the days ahead. It was a joy to talk briefly back in January. I hope some day our paths will cross again. Thank you for praying for me, I will continue to pray for you as you are obedient to His call in your life.
Suzanne
Katie, you are dear....and I am challenged every single time I come to your blog!! We are praying for you friend....and long to come to Africa SOON!! As for me, I believe in the power of prayer....and I am asking you to be praying for my heart and mind. I have been suffering with some major depression/anxiety through a lot of family junk. I am so ready to feel freedom...to trust and rest in Him! I keep feeling the Lord whispering to me....."don't give up....I am here!" I want so much to live life on the edge....and Chris and I of course want to adopt again SOON!! So, there you go....thanks for lifting us all up!! Not sure how you have time to brush your teeth....but am thankful for you. Keep it up!! We are cheering you on here in Franklin!!
Love,
Lindsey
haha...life IS good..i saw a pic of janie with her air cut off...SAD DAY!!!! oh well she's still precious..tell the crew i miss them like NONE OTHER and can't wait 'til this summer when you come back!
NKWAGALA NYO!
grace
Katie, you've inspired me so much.
I always knew I was going to be a missionary, and was actually coming on a team to help you in June this summer but I ended up not being on the team. So please pray for hope and endurance for me. It seems every time God seems to be telling me what He wants for me, he closes all of the opportunities. So pray for wisdom and hope for me.
I pray for you and look up to you so much.
Lizzie
Friend. . .look at me, leaving a comment! Aren't you proud?
Seriously, we'd love ya'lls (I'm from the SOUTH) prayers for our big decision. I haven't talked to you since I got home but G is TOTALLY on board and ready to go. We think it's a 90% chance right now. . but still need God to continue to speak CLEARLY. We are going to CO in July to meet with the whole team (tom, bob, etc) and will decide for sure then. . .scary but thrilling. Our kids are thrilled. I can't think of anyone I'd love to join me in this process of seeking more than you and your girlies. If God is for sure calling us there I just think it would be fun for them to have been part of that prayer team! I love those girls! Can't wait to introduce my kiddos to them. oh my. . .so, yes that's part of my prayer request. . I'm already talking like it's a "go" and I want to make sure I'm waiting on God. . ya know?
LOVE YOU FRIEND!
Bran
PS Wasn't Ria's post so precious?
Thank you for inspiring me.
I have prayed for your family and will continue to now that I have been shown this blog.
Please pray that my children will know and trust our Lord Jesus. And also that God will go before us to China to prepare our way to adopt our second daughter from China.
God Bless,
Bless you Katie and girls!
We are experiencing major financial hardship since my husbands paycheck from his company bounced nearly two weeks ago and still hasn't been made up. We are asking God for direction. Neither of us have degrees yet (would like for dh to at least get one) and we are having our ninth child in a little less than three months. We are ALL growing immensely in the Lord during these trials and our children amaze us with their hearts for the Lord and people. We would love to go into music and counseling ministry and involve our children in the music but we don't have a clue how we could become certified/licensed counselors and still provide for our family, although we are seeing that God provides regardless of our fathoming!
Direction is what we need most and open doors. Praise Him for the faith, trust and peace He's giving!
Katie! I absolutely LOVE reading your blog and am thankful we can be a part of GOD's big story together.
I have spent two months in Uganda...one month each of the two times I went there...and there is not one day that goes by when I do not think of my time there, the precious people, and what the Lord taught me while I was there. I live in Nashville now and got married in September--and have been praying with my husband that the Lord would open up a time for us to go back to Uganda together. Please join us in praying for the right time to open up...in GOD's timing. Also, please let me know whenever you come back to this area...because I look forward to meeting you in person!
Keep the faith, sweet sister! You are an inspiration!
Whitney
Katie,
I am so happy to hear that you and your kids and you are doing well, praise God.
I ask prayer for the 3 siblings we are adopting from Ethiopia, Meskerem, Eyob & Samuel and our 6 children at home. We still need to raise the rest of our funds, & I have been feeling expectant for quite some time now, I don't know why.
Our hearts to serve Gods nations are overwhelming, our family keeps growing (9 now) we need to trust and obey. Please pray that God will provide what we need to bring these kids home, that lives would be changed, and strongholds broken. Also pray especially for Samuel, both my husband and I feel prompted to pray for him specifically.
Thanks Katie, for praying for us, know that you and your kids are lifted too! You have been on my mind and I was thankful to see that you posted today.
All for The Kingdom, my friend!!
Hey, Katie!
I'm not sure if you remember me, but we met when you came to speak at First Baptist in Hendersonville...we sat by each other at Q'doba...:)
I pray for you often and I truly am blessed by reading your blog! Thank you for opening up your life to us!
You can pray for my husband and I as we are in the process of seeking God about some possible upcoming changes in our life.
THANKS!

No prayer requests from me. :) I have more than I need, and even though I forget it sometimes, reading your story has reminded me! I stumbled onto your blog through Ria's photography blog. Talk about a switch in priorities! I went looking for outfit ideas for my son's pictures later this summer, and I left truly humbled by your work. It doesn't take a Christian to recognize good works and strength! I literally read your entire blog starting from the beginning in the last three days. And I think you are the strongest, most beautiful (inside and out) young woman I've heard of. If your faith gives you the strength to do what you do, then I hope my little son is blessed with even a fraction of your faith. (I may not be Christian, but my husband and his family are, and I want that for my son as well.)
I don't know how you manage to come back and deal with school after doing what you've done. I can only imagine how hard it is to go back and forth.
I look forward to hearing about you in the future (and I'm sure the world will know who you are!), and I am now busy telling anyone who sits still about you and trying to figure out what/how we can help your mission.

Please pray for the Lord to show us here in Tucson how we can best support your ministry. If a door would be opened to co-labor with you in any way, that He would make it clear.
Please pray for my recent health trials that the Lord out of His amazing compassion, grace and mercy would heal me!
Thank You! I love your blog and follow it continually as well as share it as I am led. May the Lord continue to bless you!

Bless your heart, Katie! Here you are being the hands and feet of Jesus in a nation that needs you, and you're asking about OUR prayer requests?
Thank you for doing this. My family and I are close to being licensed foster parents (my first two babies came home from China in Nov. of 07). We are hoping to adopt a precious teen girl (16) named Katie (I always KNEW I liked that name!) Please pray this if it's God's will, then she will come home to be with our family soon!
We pray for you and your lovelies often. Thank you Katie! God BLESS YOU!
Sweet Katie,
You do not even know me. But, yours is the first blog I had ever read. I pray for you and your family-DAILY-for it is my privledge. God has really been using your words to speak to me in deep ways. I had always known that God was calling us to adopt but I had no idea the depth of need for so many. I am friends with Suzanne and hope to become better friends with Gwen-for we are adopting Marvin, and Gwen's little guy and Marvin are best friends. Pray that we get to come to Uganda soon-and get our precious little guy. Hopefully, I will get to meet your amazing family. May the Lord bless you and keep you.
What you are doing it amazing!
We were wondering if we could send something like vegetable seeds for you to grow. What can you grow where you are? Is this possible? What are some of your other greatest needs that our kids could help collect and send to you?
Please reply when you have time.
Thank you and God bless,
Tracy

Hi Katie,
I have been following you for about 6 months now and I am so blessed by the Lord working in and through you! Thank you for such an inspiring yet challenging blog! May the Lord bless you and keep you...
Please if you would, pray for my recent health issues, I desire a complete healing and would love it if you and your family would lift me up before the Lord, Thanks!
Also, please pray that the Lord would be clear as to how myself and our church body would be lead to support your ministry and that doors of opportunity would be opened by Him.
Love & Blessings,
Lisa in Tucson :)
Emma told me about the train hitting the cow. Can anyone spell c-e-l-e-b-r-a-t-i-o-n? =)
PS You have no idea how much it means to us that you remember us in prayer. You are such a treasure and I love you dearly!
Katie,
I love reading your blog. I am so encouraged everytime I check in.
How gracious you are to ask for OUR prayer requests!
This past week has been a rollercoaster in our family! God has TOTALLY moved in my parent's hearts to adopt. So we started pursuing this little girl in Guatemala but it fell through (it was a really unique situation considering Guatemala is closed to adoptions right now). So we're not sure what God wants us to do next. So if I could ask for wisdom for my parents as they decide where God wants us to go as He leads us to the child He has ordained to be in our family!
God bless!
Molly
God is doing so many amazing things through you and your children and all the ministries across the world. I pray for you and your family often and also pray that he uses me in even a small fraction of the way he uses you. You inspire me and so many others every single day. I thank you and I thank The Lord Above. Amazing!
Katie I stumbled on your blog from a friends blog. I am inspired to say the least. To see all those faces and God's love in you for taking them in, is just beautiful.
My name is Megan. I am a Wife and mother of two boys. Jospeh is 4 1/2 and Thomas is 3. My husband and I long for another child. I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis after 2 years of trying for a third little one. As each month rolls past I long even more. We would adopt, but my husband took a 50% pay cut and we just can't afford it. Please pray that te Lord would bring a child to us any way he chooses. If we were to adopt I would pefer a baby as ours are so young and our oldest would love another baby in the home (he is such a nurturer!). We will be praying for and following your family and the trials you are faced with. Blessings to you all!
Thank you so much for offering to pray for us in the midst of all that you have on your plate! Please pray for my husband & I; we are in the midst of the adoption process for 2 children from Ethiopia. We are also praying about the possibility of moving to Ethiopia at some point in the future to open an orphanage & would appreciate your prayers on this as well. Know that you & your family are in our prayers, too. God's blessings!
Pray that God would reveal His plan for my life and refine my dreams and passion for returning to Uganda. It's more my home than the States could be...and he's speaking something to me, slowly.
And know you and your family are being prayed for and loved from afar.
